What/Qu: On December 10^th, the Mexican Cultural Center treated her members, supporters and volunteers with a joyful holiday party (POSADA) with karaoke, mariachi, Mexican food & drinks, piatas and punch to the rhythm of our traditional Christmas songs.

El 10 de diciembre el Centro Cultural Mexicano consinti a sus miembros, seguidores y voluntarios con una alegre Posada al ritmo de nuestras tradicionales canciones navideas con karaoke, mariachi, comida, bebidas mexicanas, piatas y ponche. El evento culmin con la participacin de todos los invitados (peregrinos y anfitriones) entonando nuestra tradicional letana.

What/Qu: A delightful evening in commemoration of the Centennial of the Mexican Revolution at The Academy of Natural Sciences. A brief conference by Pancho Villa's relative, and thescreening of a historical short documentary in English about the Mexican Revolution and Pancho Villa's life followed up by A reception with Mexican Hors d'oeuvres.

Thanks to the sponsorship of the Academy of Natural Sciences, guests also had the opportunity to view rarely seen and brilliantly colored bird specimens and exotic shells (all species from Mexico).

Una encantadora tarde en la Academia de Ciencias Naturales en conmemoracin al Centenario de la Revolucin Mexicana. Una breve conferencia por un familiar directo de Pancho Villa, y la presentacin de un documental histrico en ingls acerca de la Revolucin Mexicana y la vida de Pancho Villa, seguida por una modesta recepcin con aperitivos y bebidas mexicanas.

Gracias al patrocinio de la Academia de Ciencias Naturales los invitados tambin tuvieron la oportunidad de observar raros especmenes, y coloridas aves (especies originarias de Mxico).

What/Qu: A Mexican Cultural Day at the University of Pennsylvania Museum. A family event, where friends, members and children had the chance to see current exhibits and learn how topaint a mural with the renowned mural artist Csar Viveros, whileenjoyingsome of the treasures of ourMexican Culturelike Mariachi, and Aztec& Folkloric Dance Performances.

Durante nuestro Da Cultural Mexicano, el Museo de la Universidad de Pennsylvania, familias, miembros, padres y nios tuvieron la oportunidad de ver exhibiciones y aprender a pintar un mural con el reconocido muralista Csar Viveros, mientras disfrutaban de algunas de las riquezas de nuestra cultura mexicana como el espectculo de Danza Folklrica y Azteca, y Mariachi en vivo.

Day of the Dead Exhibition/ Altar del Da de Muertos: According to our tradition, wehad again an altar on display in the Bourse Building, whichwas viewedby more than 4,000 peoplethroughout the dates of exhibition.This year the altar had the special theme of "Mexican Revolutionary Heroes", to commemorate the Centennial Celebration of the Mexican Revolution, created by four different well-known artists from the area: Csar Viveros, Anabelle Rodrguez, Francisco Garcia Gorjua & Lucino Mar.

Como ya es tradicin, este ao se tuvo la exhibicin del Altar de Ofrendas para celebrar el Da de los Muertos en el Bourse Building, el cual fue visto por ms de 4,000 personas durante las fechas de exhibicin. Este ao, se realizo con el tema especial " Hroes Revolucionarios de Mxico" por motivo de la celebracin del Centenario de la Revolucin Mexicana, creado por 4 artistas reconocidos del rea: Csar Viveros, Anabelle Rodrguez, Francisco Garcia Gorjua y Lucino Mar.

The Geographical Society of Philadelphia with the Mexican Cultural Center present a special evening at the Academy of Natural Sciences. Colorful Mexico, presented by its filmmaker Fran Reidelberger. The film boards the Copper Canyon Railroad for a spectacular ride. Cross to Baja, winter home of migrating gray whales. Enjoy golden Pacific beaches from Puerto Vallarta to Zihuatanejo. Visit gorgeous Morelia. See the wealthy heritage Spanish "Silver Cities" Taxco, Guanajuato, and Zacatecas.

"Mexican Independence Festival"

We celebrated our 200 Anniversary ofMexican Independenceon Septemberin our traditional festival atPenn's Landing.

Our guests had ataste of the rich Mexican culture and participated in this event to learned about and reflect on Mexicos past, while witnessing the traditional Grito de Independencia, a shout led by the Consul of Mexico in Philadelphia, Carlos Giralt, commemorating the beginning of the fight that led Mexico to be a free country.

Celebramos nuestro 200 Aniversario de la Indpendencia de Mexico en Septiembre en nuestro tradicionalFestival en Penn's Landing.

Los invitadosdisfrutaron de la interesante cultura mexicana y al mismo tiempo aprendieron sobre el pasado de Mxico. Celebraron en vivo el tradicional Grito de Independencia dirigido por el Cnsul de Mxico, en Filadelfia, Lic. Carlos Giralt Cabrales, conmemorando el principio de la lucha que llev a Mxico a la libertad.

The Mexican Cultural Center and Races Culturales Presents: In August we had a discussion on Chichen Itza, a fabulous ruin in Mxico that dates back to pre-Colombian Mayan civilization. The discussionwas led by Eduardo Guzmn, a well known Mexican Arquitect.

El Centro Cultural Mexicano y Races Culturales Presentan: En Agostose diuna discusin sobre Chichen Itza, una ruina fantstica en Mxico quese relaciona con la civilizacin pre-colombiana de los Mayas. La discusinfue dirigida por Eduardo Guzmn, el reconocido arquitecto mexicano.

"Treasures about Mexico in Philadelphia"

In the American Philosophical Society there are several documents that can be
seen about the history, languages and culture of Mexico. Roy Goodmantalked
and showed some of the documents he knows are very important. Members of the Friendship Force from Southern New Jersey andfrom Comitan Mexico participate in this event.

En la Sociedad Filosfica Americana hay varios documentos que pueden ser
vistos de la historia, las lenguas y la cultura de Mxico. Roy Goodman habl
y mostr algunos de los documentos que se consideran importantes. Participaron miembros de la Fuerza de la Amistad del sur de Nueva Jersey y de Comitn, Mxico.

"Polo Match"

The Mexican Cultural Center collaborating with the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce had a Polo Match to benefit the Swedish Charity World Childhood Foundation. Wewere also excited to support the Mexican professional polo player, Juan Martinez Baez, who comes from a large polo playing family and has been playing for 17 years all over the USA and played in this match as well.

The proceeds benefited Swedish Charity World Childhood Foundation.

El Centro Cultural Mexicano en colaboracin con la Cmara de Comercio Americana - Suecia tuvieron partido de polo en beneficio de Swedish Charity World Childhood Foundation. Estuvimos tambin muy contentos de apoyar el jugador mexicano de polo profesional, Juan Martnez Bez, quien proviene de una familia numerosa de jugadores de polo y ha estado jugando durante 17 aos en todo los EE.UU. y jug en este partido tambin.

Este eventofue a beneficio de Swedish Charity World Childhood Foundation.

Musical Performance

Mexican vocalist and composer Magos Herrera, considered one of the most beautiful voices and the most active vocalist of the contemporary Latin American jazz scene, will perform for the second time in Philadelphia, featuring the music from her latest Grammy nominated album, Distancia, on Sunnyside Records and will introduce some of the music for an upcoming recording celebrating the bicentenary of Mexico.

Magos Herrera, cantante y compositora mexicana, considerada una de las ms bellas voces y la vocalista mas activa dentro del mbito de jazz Latino contemporneo, se presentar por segunda vez en Filadelfia, con la msica de su ltimo disco nominado al Grammy, Distancia, de Sunnyside Records y presentar algunas canciones de su mas reciente grabacin para celebrar el Bicentenario de Mxico.

"San Mateo Carnavalero"

Carnival

This parade, also known as Carnaval of Puebla or San Mateo Carnaval, has been held here in Philadelphia every last Sunday of April since 3 years ago. This episode represents our celebration of 5 de Mayos battle, where the Mexicans won the French. Around 300 persons participate in this parade with traditional customs and a music band.

Este desfile, tambin conocido como Carnaval de San Mateo o Carnaval de Puebla, se ha celebrado aqu en Filadelfia el ultimo domingo de abril desde hace 3 aos. Este episodio representa nuestra celebracin del 5 de Mayo de batalla, donde los mexicanos le ganaron la batalla a los franceses. Alrededor de 300 personas participan en este desfile con las tradicionales costumbres acompaando de una banda.
